Rough one last night. Who knew I wouldn’t be any good at betting on teams that I knew absolutely nothing about from schools that I never heard of? Shocker. I thought my boys down at NCA&T would win outright against a +1 spread, but they ended up just missing the mark and lost by 19. Honestly kind of mad I bet against a team called the Rattlers. Hand up, that one’s on me.
Tonight I’m fixing all my mistakes though. I’m going with a power conference matchup and taking Michigan State -2 @ #22 Illinois. Let’s take a look at the mascot matchup. Spartans vs Illini? I don’t even know what an Illini is. Some stupid made up abbreviation of the state the school is in? Awful effort from whoever founded that place. On a slightly more statistical note, Michigan State opened the season at #1 in the AP Top 25. Sure, they’ve obviously underperformed, and fallen entirely outside of the Top 25. The Spartans are also in the midst of a rough 3 game losing streak. That’s why I love this bet tonight. They’ve been awful over the past week and now they’re 2 point favorites on the road? Hammer that. Let’s get back on track for the week.
