So I’ve told you about The Bullpen. I also think I should tell you about who I am so you know where I’m coming from. My name is Connor Thomas, and I’m just a regular guy who likes sports, and drinking, and gambling, and normal guy stuff. I’m from South Jersey, but I currently live in Philadelphia. I’m a Philly sports fan to the death, and that death is going to come much sooner because of it. If you root for any Philly teams you’ll understand why. Part of the reason I live in Philly now is because when I moved back home after college my mom used to threaten to kick me out of the house ever Sunday for screaming too loud at Eagles games.
Speaking of getting out of college, I spent a couple years after graduation stuck in a sales job in an office just like most people. I’m guessing there’s a lot of you still doing that, and that’s fine. There’s a hell of a lot more money in that than what I’m making right now. But at the start of 2019, I quit to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. By the end of the year I got an opportunity as a producer at 97.5 The Fanatic, a Philly sports talk radio station, and I’m still there currently living the dream of trying to build a career talking sports. I think now would probably the best time to let everyone know that anything I write in this blog is MY OPINION ONLY. While I do write for The Fanatic’s website, and some of those posts will be shared here, there are going to be some stories that have nothing to do with my work over there. Please don’t be a dick, understand the difference between a personal blog and my day to day work.
I say all that because there will be hot takes. If I see something stupid on the internet I’m going to rip it. If I seem like a degenerate gambler it’s because I am. I’m not the best person in the world, but I sure as hell know how to entertain. That’s all I’m doing here.
I’m going to write plenty of posts about myself, my friends, my life, and my stories, so of course there’s a lot more that you’ll learn about me if you follow The Bullpen. But essentially what I’ve told you here is what everything boils down to. I’m just a 25 year old kid with a cool job, a gambling addiction, a sports obsession, and what some may consider a drinking problem. And I’m just here to laugh and argue with everyone out there like me who’s just looking for a story to get them through the day. Can’t wait to get started.
