The Nightcap: Eric Weddle

There have been a lot of big names leaving the NFL lately. Of course this offseason we had Rob Gronkowski hang them up, as well as the shocking Andrew Luck retirement. Luke Keuchly also surprised the league by hitting the showers. Antonio Gates called it a career this year, as did Super Bowl hero and Connor Thomas lookalike Eli Manning. And today another great player announced he had played his last snap.

Safety Eric Weddle, who spent most of his time in the NFL with the Chargers and the Ravens, was a 6 time Pro-Bowler and twice an All-Pro. He showed incredible athleticism for a 5’11” white kid, giving all of the 5’11” white guys out there hope that they could one day be a premier athlete (doesn’t apply to me, im 6’0″). He was incredibly flashy on the field, but even exceptional play was at times outshined by his absolutely incredible beard.

There’s still a debate going on as to Weddle’s Hall of Fame status, but there’s no doubt that he was an incredible talent to watch when he was in the league. Best of luck in retirement Eric, and for the love of God someone get this man a razor.

I'm a low effort, high results kinda guy. Will defend Philly sports to the death. Terrible at sports betting, love to bet anyway. Big fan of making bad choices and hoping for the best.
