You’ve seen it a billion times at the end of NFL, and NBA, and EPL games. Two guys who are either mutually admiring competitors, friends, relatives, or just have a connection somehow take off their jerseys after the game and trade with each other. It’s a sign of respect and camaraderie that we’ve seen over and over between athletes. But now, we’ve seen this motion leave the field of competition, and head to the post game party.
What a revolutionary moment. We’ve all had that random guy or group of guys that we run into at a bar or club as complete strangers but end up shooting the shit all night. These guys decided to take the good to meet you dap up a step further though, going with the jersey swap instead. I give it two weekends in Center City before I see two sweaty ass dudes shirt off taking pictures outside of McGillins trying to recreate this moment. And I can’t blame them one bit, because this is an absolutely incredible idea. As long as you’re willing to part with a shirt, and the other guy is generally around your size, there’s no reason that this shouldn’t become a regular thing. Just guys respecting dudes.
Now in this instance, my man on the left got short-changed out of a sick ass leopard print shirt that the guy on the right has no prayer of pulling off. I can’t disparage that Hawaiian that got traded, also a strong jersey of choice, but everyone loves a good Hawaiian SSBD, only club All Stars can pull off the leopard. Either way, I could easily see guys looking back on this picture a couple years down the line, with a brand new wardrobe of shirts in our closet, and think about a moment that changed partying forever.
